Porter High School Cosmetology is ready for clients from the Kings Mill community!

This specialized Career Technical Education program allows students to practice skills they are passionate about right in their high school classrooms. Cosmetology students learn about everything there is to know in a well-rounded salon to provide clients with any beauty service they want. Students in this class are taught how to perm, cut and color hair, master Brazilian blowouts, do nails, and more. Porter High Cosmetology Instructor, Dawn Jackson, wants students to “be confident that they can […] accomplish anything” after completing her class. Jackson expresses that working in a salon is a great way for students to create their own schedules, make more money, and meet great people, which is why many students want to use the skills they learn to pay their way through college!

In this program, students complete the required number of hours for an adequate salon service education and then test to determine if they are ready for a career in the beauty industry after high school. The only way these ambitious students will be able to pass the test and master their skills is with the help of their community. Porter High School’s Cosmetology class is determined to provide the best salon service as possible, and the Kings Mill community can help. Please consider supporting Porter High School’s Cosmetology class!
